    TABLE OF CEMETERY FEES

    The fees set out below apply where the person to be interred or in respect of whom the right is granted is (or immediately before death was) a parishioner of Morton and Thonock Parish, in the case of a still-born child, where a parent is (or was at the time of interment) a parishioner.
    In all other cases, the fees will be doubled.
    The fees set out below are applicable from April 2019 and will remain in place until further notice is given.

    1) AT INTERMENT: FEE

    a) Body of a still born child or aged under
    1 month at time of death No Charge

    b) of the body of a child aged from 1 month
    to 12 years old No Charge
    c) of the body of a person whose age
    exceeded 12 years £ 220.00
    d) of cremated remains £ 125.00

    2) EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS OF BURIAL – MAX 99 YEARS:

    a) One or two interments, space 9ft x 4ft £ 225.00
    b) Cremated remains, space 2ft x 1.5ft £ 175.00

    3) MEMORIALS:

    a) Headstone, limit 3ft high £ 100.00
    b) Kerbing or Border Stones (not permitted) N/A

    c) Vase, not exceeding 12 inches £ 30.00

    d) Additional inscription after the first on any memorial No Charge

    e) Removal of headstone for renovation work, cleaning, re-gilding
    and re-fixing £ 100.00

BURIAL GROUND FEES, MORTON PARISH COUNCIL: (contd.)

NOTES:

A) No fixed memorials may be erected on any space for which the exclusive rights of burial has not been granted.

B) No memorial may be erected until six months after a funeral.

C) No memorial may be erected, nor removed, without the approval of the clerk of the council’s application form and the appropriate fee paid and receipted by the clerk.

D) No memorial or any other article higher than ground level, other than a headstone or moveable vase, may be erected in section C of the burial ground.

E) No memorial headstone or any other article higher than 18 inches may be erected in section D (cremated remains area) of the burial ground.

F) No mounding of graves is allowed in section C of the burial ground.

G) Notice of interment must be received by the clerk at least three clear days before the date of interment, together with the required fee.

H) The parish council does not undertake digging, filling and levelling of graves and the fees do not include this.

I) The undertaker is required to ensure that the grave is consolidated for six months after interment, to enable monuments to be put in place, on completion, to the satisfaction of the parish council, a certificate will be issued.

J) Residents of Morton will be allowed burial in Morton cemetery. An additional grave space may only be purchased at the time of burial, at the discretion of the parish council.

K) At the time of death, non-residents of Morton with close family ties may, in exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of the council, be granted burial rights in the cemetery. Individual cases will be considered by council on their merits and not just if resident at time of death. NOTE: THE PARISH COUNCIL’S DECISION IS FINAL

L) No article other than the approved memorials at A) to D) (above) may be placed on any grave. Any other article will be subject to removal by the council.
