What Can First Contact Do For You This Winter…
First Contact is a free service designed to help anyone aged 60 and over, living in Lincolnshire receive the support they need to stay safe and independent in their own home through just one point of contact.
The First Contact checklist contains 13 questions to help identify the information and advice you could benefit from. There are a wide range of issues including money and benefits, home and fire safety, housing, social care, preventing falls, healthy lifestyles, local clubs and activity groups, caring for friends and relatives, energy efficiency, domestic help, local transport and volunteering opportunities. First Contact works with partners throughout Lincolnshire to ensure you can access these services in a simple and convenient way.

If you would like to know more about energy saving advice, paying the bills and heating or insulation for your home First Contact can refer you to your local District Council for information that can help you stay warm this winter.
Free smoke alarms are available from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue to ensure that you have a working alarm on each floor of your home. They will advise on what to do in case of a fire and help you develop an escape plan.
If you need help with advice on managing your money, debts and finding out if you are receiving all the benefits you may be entitled to First Contact can refer you to the Citizens Advice Bureau for help.
If you would like information about personal and home security then Lincolnshire Police will be able to advise you to prepare for this winter.
Age UK Falls Team can advise you how to prevent falls this winter. The team can complete a free assessment of your home identifying simple changes to prevent a fall and to help you feel safer and more independent.
If you would like to meet new people or find out what’s going on in your local community your local First Contact Field Coordinator will provide you with information about local lunch clubs, social and activity groups.
To help you get out and about this winter the Transport Group at Lincolnshire County Council will send you a pack full of transport options tailored to suit your needs. This will include local bus times/routes, community and voluntary car schemes, Call Connect or Dial-A-Ride.
